うちなーからじ結について

沖縄には古来より独特の髪型（髪結い）が存在しています。なかでも、近年沖縄式結婚式でも見受けられるように、女性のサイドの髪がふっくらとし、頭のトップでかんざし（ジーファー）を挿した「うちなーからじ結」が特徴的です。
このサイドの髪（ハイ）がふっくらとするボリュームによって、王妃や那覇結など特徴を表してるといい、中でも最上位である王妃のサイドの髪（ハイ）のボリュームが大きくて緩やかな形こそ優美な髪型が特徴です。
今後琉球美容研究所は、これらの沖縄伝統の髪型から始まり、美容院（美粧院）の歴史を研究することにより、より沖縄独自の美容文化を発信してまいりたいと考えております。
実は明日3月31日（日）には、那覇市辻で伝統的なジュリ馬の行事があります。実は辻はいわゆる昔遊郭のエリアではあったものの、文化と芸能の発信地でもあり、またそこで働く女性の影響力は高いものだと聞いています。その伝統である辻ジュリ馬の行事を視察し、またそこに伝わる辻結い（辻の女性独特の髪結い）についても貴重な研究材料として見学させていただこうと思っています。
沖縄はなかなか「美容」という観点から文化を辿ることが難しいです。
なぜなら、美容に関する文献や書物がほとんど残されていないからです。その理由の一つに戦争での消失もあげられると思いますが、民俗文化としても各地域で異なりがあるなど、口述や技術のみで伝承され文献に残されていないパターンが多く見受けられます。
これらを聞き取り等をベースとし文書化、可視化そして再現することにより、我々本研究所は後世に伝承できると考え活動しております。

琉球美容を世界へ発信する

このポリシーは引き続き活動の原動力として掲げてまいりたいと思います。

Okinawa has a unique hairstyle (hairdressing) since ancient times. Among them, as seen in recent years in Okinawa-style weddings, the hair on the side of the woman is plump, and the “Uchina-Karaji” is a distinctive feature that is inserted beautiful hair stick at the top of the head (Ji-fa-).
This side hair (hai) has a plump volume, and it is good to express the characteristics such as queen and Naha Yui(*Unique hair style of only Naha city), especially the top side of the queen's side hair (hai) has a large volume and a gentle shape is elegant The hairstyle is a feature.
Starting from these Okinawan traditional hairstyles, the Ryukyu Beauty Research Lab intends to further promote Okinawa's unique beauty culture by studying the history of beauty salons.
There will be a traditional Juri horse event at Naha City on Sunday, March 31st.
In fact, although it used to be a so-called Tsuji area, it is also a source of culture and performing arts, and we also heard that women who work there are highly influential. We would like to observe the tradition of the Juri horse event, and also have a tour to learn about the indwelling (*unique hair style only in Tsuji women) as a valuable research material.
Okinawa is quite difficult to follow culture from the viewpoint of "beauty".
Because there is hardly any literature or books on beauty. We think one of the reasons for this is the big lost during the war, but there are many patterns that are transmitted by dictation and technology only and are not left in the literature.
We believe that this research lab can be handed down to future generations by documenting, visualizing and reproducing based on these interviews.
